Join our crew of amazing volunteers and enjoy a front row seat to witness the path to the PGA Tour.
Whether you’re a golf novice, an avid fan, a new volunteer or have been an integral volunteer for years, there is a place for you! It takes many hands to make this tournament a success. Each year, we have over 400 volunteers who dedicate their time to help fulfill our mission.
- Volunteers are vital to ensuring our tournament runs smoothly. Not only will you be able to give back to your community, but you’ll also get to experience the event firsthand and have a great time!

LECOM Suncoast Classic Volunteer FAQ
Q: Where will the 2024 event be held?
A: The LECOM SUNCOAST CLASSIC will be held on Lakewood National Golf Club. This is a one-day Pro-Am and 4-
day competitive tournament.
Q: Who is the title sponsor of this event?
A: LECOM - LAKE ERIE COLLEGE OF OSTEOPATHIC MEDICINE
Q: Is the volunteer fee good for one year?
A: Yes, the $40 volunteer fee is only good for the 2024 tournament. The fee helps us to offset our costs and
donate more to charity in return.
Q: Will there be a new volunteer uniform in 2024?
A: Yes, you will choose your uniform size during the registration process.
Q: What do I wear with my uniform?
A: Men can wear any appropriate khaki pants or shorts. Ladies can wear any appropriate khaki capris, pants, or
knee length shorts or skorts. Please no denim or cargo shorts.
Q: I would like to volunteer with a friend. How do I make sure we volunteer at the same time?
A: During the registration process, you will have an opportunity to indicate if you would like to volunteer with
someone else. Please be sure to both select the same shift availability and indicate their first and last name.
Q: Will Volunteers be able to take guests to the tournament?
A: Volunteers will be provided up to 4 LECOM Grounds Day Passes for any tournament day for guests.
2024 LECOM Volunteer Committees
Scoring Services Division
Competition Support - Walking Scorers
Walking scorer volunteers are essential members of the competition team helping record and relay scores on a handheld device. This position will require successful completion of a mandatory training on the days before the tournament. Walking scorers must be comfortable performing basic computer skills and be knowledgeable of golf etiquette/scoring and able to walk 18 holes of a golf course. Minimum age to be part of this committee is 18 years old. Must be available to work at least three days of official tournament rounds. Walking scorers should have the physical ability to easily keep pace with their group across all 18 holes without a break and in varying weather conditions. For reference, 18 holes will vary from 5-6 miles or roughly 10,000 steps. They should be comfortable using a handheld digital device to record each shot, as well as the voice radio with a headset that allows for constant communication. Shift is approximately 6 hours per day.
Volunteers must be 18+ years old and must sign a Disclosure Form.

Standard Bearers
Volunteers on this committee will be responsible for walking with a designated group of players and posting their scores on a standard. Volunteer needs to be able to carry the standard (weight approximately 5-7 pounds) while walking 18 holes. This position is a great opportunity for teenagers or parents. Shift is approximately 6 hours per day.

Scoring Control
This team serves as the center for receiving and relaying all scoring information during the event. Scoring control filters scoring information from the Walking Scorers to leader boards and serves as the checkpoint for score verification. Volunteers will input data into scoring computers and run scorecards. Light walking and standing. Two shifts available every day, AM or PM.

Marshal Services Division
Gallery Management – (Formerly Marshals)
Gallery Management volunteers are given a unique inside and outside-the ropes tournament experience. They are responsible for managing gallery noise & traffic; ensuring the safety of our guests by reinforcing health & safety policies; leading by example; and providing a world-class guest experience. Volunteers are assigned to the teeing area, fairway, and green of a specific hole (1-18), or to high traffic areas such as crosswalks or in front of hospitality areas.

Tournament Services Division
Corporate/Sponsor Hospitality
Greet guests and check credentials at entrances to sponsored hospitality locations. Assist corporate clients as necessary to ensure the best possible experience. Ensure that only properly credentialed clients are allowed in private hospitality areas.

Announcers
Responsible for introducing Pro-Am Players on Wednesday and Tournament Players (during tournament rounds) as they approach the tee box at either #1 tee or #10 tee to begin the round. Strong public speaking skills and appropriate voice/inflection required.

PRO-AM
Support activities that surround the Pro-Am events Tuesday and Wednesday. Meet and Greet sponsors at the Pro-Am Draw Party, Tuesday night. Along with support on Wednesday with Pro-Am registration and gift distribution.

Admission & Information
Welcome guests, assist with on-site ticket sales, Will Call distribution and issue proper credentials to spectators, sponsors, and allied organizations at the main entrance. Hand out Pairing Sheets and Spectator Guides to those arriving on Tournament Grounds.

Player Services Division
Player Services
Committee members welcome and register players for the tournament, providing them with necessary credentials. They also serve as a resource providing information about local amenities, general information about the tournament, the surrounding area and overall concierge for other player needs. Once Registration is complete Volunteers will transition into greeting players, family, and guests entering the designated area for Breakfast and Lunch. Check credentials and monitor doors entering the dining area.

Caddie Services
Committee members welcome and register Caddies for the tournament. Volunteers are responsible for distributing, collecting and washing caddie bibs and towels. They also serve as a resource providing information about local amenities, general information about the tournament, the surrounding area and overall concierge for other caddies needs.

Practice Facility
Volunteers on this committee will be asked to assist players at the practice facility with all practice needs and supplies. Volunteer duties include keeping the chipping greens cleared of balls, removing empty bags from the driving range, and cleaning and sorting range balls.

Volunteer Services Division
Volunteer Headquarters (VHQ) & Uniform Distribution
Inventory and distribute volunteer apparel prior to tournament week. Provide volunteer hospitality functions during the tournament. Set up and maintain food and beverage areas. Assist Marshal Chairpersons with on-course lunch and beverage delivery. Distribute Volunteer Uniforms and handle exchanges during Tournament week. Minimal walking or standing. These volunteers may also fill in any last-minute needs and open spots in other committees.

Product Distribution
Responsible for distribution of food and beverage to on-course locations. Must have a valid driver’s license. Moderate level of walking, standing, and some lifting/strenuous activity may be required. Shifts are outside in direct sunlight and the elements.

Golf Cart Management & Volunteer Shuttles
These volunteers will manage the fleet of volunteer golf carts making sure they are charged every night and check out by the properly authorized individual with keys returned. Volunteers on this committee will be asked to provide shuttle service for volunteers needing transportation out on course.
